Hopkins Village Council May 11th, 2015
CALL TO ORDE R Pro Tem Weick called the meeting to order at 7:30P.M.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA A motion was made by council trustee Buist and was supported by council trustee Bellgraph to approve the agenda for the meeting of May 11th, 2015 as amended. All Ayes
APPROVAL OF MINUTES A motion was made by council trustee Brenner and was supported by council trustee Stearns to approve the minutes of April 13th 2015. All Ayes
APPROVAL OF BILLS A motion was made by council trustee Bellgraph and was supported by council trustee Switek to approve the bills of April 14th, 2015 to May 11th, 2015. All Ayes
APPROVAL OF FINANCIAL REPORT A motion was made by council trustee Stearns and supported by trustee Buist to approve the financial report for. April 2015 with a .20 expense change. Ayes
COMMISSIONERS REPORT John Campbell emailed his report for the month.
POLICE REPORT Chief Sadowski gave her monthly report. Sadowski asked for official clearance to use the tazar gun. A motion was made by trustee Switek and supported by trustee Stearns to have Chief Sadowski continue ahead with certification training for the use of the tazar gun and a policy for its use. Switek yes, Stearns yes, Bellgraph yes, Brenner yes, Buist yes. Yes 6 No 0 Motion passed.
MAINTENANCE REPORT Maintenance Supervisor Bala gave his monthly report. Jim reported that gas for the small engines should be 89 octane with no ethanol. Council asked Jim to check out the different option for getting that gas.
A motion was made by trustee Bellgraph and supported by trustee Brenner to order and repair the playground equipment at the north park. All Ayes (Side note the DDA will be paying for that equipment)
A motion was made by trustee Bellgraph and supported by trustee Stearns to start a stoning process around the sewer ponds where muskrats are weakening the banks. All Ayes
Barb Bennett gave the council a May 27th date for a open house for the Greater Hopkins Area Chamber of Commerce. She asked that the council members attend.
Resolution Right Of Way Resolution number 15-011 was read asking for the Allegan County Drain Commissioner to construct and maintain a portion of the Hopkins Station Drain within the Division Street Right of Way located with the Wise Addition. A motion was made by trustee Buist and supported by trustee Brenner to approve Resolution 15-011. All Ayes
Resolution Delinquent Taxes Resolution number 15-010 was read asking for the Township of Hopkins to collect the summer Village operating taxes and for the tax dates and delinquent due dates to be the same as the Township of Hopkins. A motion was made by trustee Stearns and supported by trustee Bellgraph to approve resolution 15-010. All Ayes
Drawdown #5 With the absence of President Howard there was a motion made by trustee Stearns and supported by trustee Switek to have clerk Alberda to sign the latest drawdown for the Saw Grant. All Ayes

After more discussion on the village getting a web site built, a motion was made by trustee Stearns and supported by trustee Buist to have Eric Alberda go forward with building of a web site for the Village of Hopkins. All Ayes

Treasurer Swainston will be mailing out sewer bills with a letter of information on yard mowing and blight issues.
